Sin creates a barrier between God and us. Because of the corruption of sin, we can’t be close to God. A wall exists between us and the promises God has for us.
Sin builds a wall between God and us. Because of sin's corruption, we can't get close to God. A wall stands between us and God's promises: promises of hope, eternal life, and righteousness. Just like Jesus forcefully drove out the money changers and overturned tables, he powerfully tore down the walls of sin on the cross. Ephesians 2:14 tells us that those who were far from Christ are now brought near by His blood. He is our peace, breaking down the walls of hostility between us and God.
Do you feel distant from God today? Do you think that sin, shame, and problems keep you from Him? Take comfort in the fact that Jesus went to great lengths to bring you back to Him. No sin is too powerful, and no wall is too big for God's unwavering love. Joshua may have led the Israelites around the walls, but God brought them down.
